The best resource on trade publishing?

In How to Do Better Creative Work, Steve Harrison recommends 13 books for people in his industry (i.e., advertising). Over a series of posts on this blog I have been doing the same for books on publishing. This post is the last in the series. The complete list of 13 titles is given above, on the Monographer’s Bookshelf page.

For the 13th text I have chosen Merchants of Culture: The Publishing Business in the Twenty-First Century by John B. Thompson (Polity Press, 2010). If there is a better resource for understanding trade publishing, I haven’t come across it.
