Cambridge Publishing Society: Brian Webb

David Williams writes: The next speaker at the Cambridge Publishing Society (CAMPUS) is Brian Webb, who is certainly one of the UK’s premier graphic designers, with a special affinity for the book.

You might have seen Brian’s superb series of books (co-written with Peyton Skipwith, wholly designed by Brian) about Eric Ravilious, Edward Bawden, the Nashes, Peter Blake, Edward McKnight Kauffer, Curwen Press, David Gentleman … just looking at them is an education.

Brian designs the very fine publicity and publications for the Fry Gallery in Saffron Walden and the rather less fine but much better paid corporate identity for the CB development near the station.

His work also includes the Royal Mail Christmas stamps last year (with Axel Scheffler) and the 10th-year anniversary redesigns of the Harry Potter books.

  1. Thank you! ‘the station’ is Cambridge station, by the way.
