To lose two printers might be carelessness…
In earlier posts I wrote about my company’s use a printer called MPG Biddles — a company that provided us with high production quality, good prices, and great customer service. Sadly, they went into administration — perhaps because it’s difficult to provide all three of those things at the same time whilst remaining profitable.
We switched some of our printing to Berforts Information Press. Now they too have fallen into administration. (The report in PrintWeek is here). The catalyst seems to have been difficulty with binding machinery, which delayed fulfilment.
All of which is sad. Before we began to trade with them, I visited their Stevenage plant and was impressed — by the people and the printing technology. Though they never quite matched Biddles, they did a decent job for us and we would have continued to work with them.
I’m now worried that no printer will accept our orders — they might see us as harbingers of collapse.
